Morgan St. beats cross-town rival Coppin St. 82-77

BALTIMORE (AP) Justin Black and Ian Chiles scored 23 points apiece on Monday as Morgan State won its fourth straight game against cross-town rival Coppin State, 82-77.

The 7-foot-2 Chiles had five blocks for Morgan State (9-13, 7-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), giving him 167 in his career. Black made nine of his 14 shots and had seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Anthony Hubbard added 15 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, for the Bears.

Black scored nine early points a Morgan State led 13-7 and the Bears closed the half on an 11-4 run to lead 44-36.

Coppin State (9-15, 6-5) got 21 points from Michael Murray and Taariq Cephas had 17. The Eagles were just 4 of 22 from beyond the arc and made 39.1 percent of their field goals

The teams will face off again on Feb. 19 in the 77th meeting between the two programs.
