Montana St. beats Louisiana-Lafayette on Mvuezolo's late FTs

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) Joe Mvuezolo Jr. calmly connected on two free throws with two seconds remaining to give Montana State an 84-83 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Monday night.

The Bobcats (1-1) led throughout the final 10 minutes of the second period until Johnathan Stove made a layup to give the Ragin' Cajuns an 83-82 lead with 28 seconds left.

Montana State's Tyler Hall, who finished with 28 points, missed a 3-pointer with six seconds left. Mvuezolo grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Kadavion Evans. He hit the free throws.

The Ragin' Cajuns (0-2) had one last shot but Frank Bartley IV, who had a career-high 29 points, missed a 3-point jumper as time expired.

Zach Green and Harald Frey had 16 points apiece for the Bobcats (1-1), who held a 78-63 advantage with 5:11 left in the game. The Ragin' Cajuns mounted a 20-4 run to take an 83-82 lead before Mvuezolo's free throws.
