Missouri State will lose scholarships in football and men's basketball after failing to meet the NCAA's requirements for academic progress.

The university said Wednesday that the basketball program will lose one of its 13 scholarships for the 2011-12 season, while football will lose 2.83 scholarships for 2010-2011.

The four-year average required score for all NCAA Division I sports is 925. The football program recorded an academic progress rate of 921, while basketball had a score of 908.

Athletics Director Kyle Moats said the school has implemented changes to better monitor classroom performance, provide more academic support and increase accountability.
