James Haarsma had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as Wisconsin-Milwaukee repelled Northern Illinois 59-57 on Monday night.

Ja'Rob McCallum scored 12 points and Kyle Kelm and Ryan Allen had 10 apiece for the Panthers (2-0). Kaylon Williams added eight points and six assists.

Tim Toler led the Huskies (0-2) with 11 points. Ten players scored for Northern Illinois, which played its home opener.

Ryan Haggerty's 3-pointer with 9 seconds left in the half gave the Panthers their largest lead at 35-21.

But the Huskies clawed back, and Toler put Northern Illinois ahead 40-39 with a jumper with 11:01 to go.

But seven straight points by Kelm made it 46-42 with 9:22 to play.

Neither team shot well. Northern Illinois was 20 of 54 (37 percent) and Wisconsin-Milwaukee 20 of 55 (36.4). The Huskies committed 23 turnovers and the Panthers 15.
