James Washington scored 12 points, including nine from 3-point range, as Middle Tennessee defeated Samford 68-55 on Saturday at the Global Sports Hoops Showcase.
Josh Davis, who scored 30 points and made eight 3-pointers for Samford (2-2) in its win over Auburn on Friday night was held to seven points and attempted only two shots.
Washington contributed a three-point play on a layup and free throw during an 11-0 first-half run that gave the Blue Raiders (2-2) a 23-10 lead 6:51 before halftime. Jason Jones added 11 points for Middle Tennessee, including a pair of layups during that run.
The Bulldogs, who were led by Drew Windler's 15 points, trailed 31-16 at the half and never got closer than 11 points after that.
The Blue Raiders were able to prevent a Samford rally by making their free throws. Twelve of their last 14 points came from the line in the final 3:53.
