Miami Frosh Dewan Huell Won't Be Suspended
CBS Sports Jon Rothstein is reporting that “Jim Larranaga told @CBSSports that Miami freshman Dewan Huell will not be suspended for his recent arrest. Deal will be handled internally.”
Huell was arrested last week following a domestic dispute. He allegedly found his ex-girlfriend Autum Williams and Samuel J. Bailey hiding in a closet. The Palm Beach post also confirmed via a text from Larranaga that Huell will not be suspended.
WINZ Miami’s the Slater show received a copy of the police report that said says “Huell grabbed the man by his shirt and dragged him out of the room, which left the man with scratches on his chest and neck.” Huell was charged with battery after the alleged victim suffered scratches and bruises. Huell was not invited into Williams’ room.
Huell is going to be counted on to be a big part of Larranaga’s rotation this season and challenge for a starting spot and is the 29th ranked player nationally per 247Sports. He is a multi-talented forward that at 6’10 has skills to play inside and outside.

Huell is an extra long and lean power forward that is very skilled. He runs the floor well and can finish above the rim with length and athletic ability. He scores in the low post over his left shoulder with excellent feel and touch in and around the lane.
Hurricane football player Michael Wyche was suspended last season after being arrested for domestic violence. The suspension was handed down before Wyche’s due process. Wyche had other issues on and off the field, including attending three Junior Colleges. His domestic battery case was to be dismissed if Wyche completed a pretrial diversion program.
The news that Huell will not be suspended and that the issue will be handled internally likely means this is the last that we hear about this publicly.
