Daniel Coursey scored 13 points and tallied four blocks to lead Mercer past North Florida 69-58 Saturday, as the Bears vaulted into a first-place tie in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Travis Smith added 12 points and Jakob Gollon 10 for Mercer (14-7, 6-2), which tied its season high with three straight wins. The Bears are now tied with Belmont, which beat them on Dec. 3, atop the conference.
The Bears stayed ahead for most of the contest, leading by just two points at halftime but outscoring the Ospreys 40-31 in the second half.
Mercer outshot North Florida from the field 46.3 percent (25 of 54) to 37 percent (20 of 54) in the win. The Bears also outrebounded the Ospreys 40-30, and won despite committing 15 turnovers.
Travis Wallace had a game-high 20 points to lead the Ospreys (9-12, 3-5), who have collected a season-high four consecutive losses.
