McCarthy caps 21-point comeback, Harvard beats Cornell 76-74

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) Tommy McCarthy had 21 points, five rebounds and eight assists Saturday and scored the game-winning layup with 5.5 seconds left to cap Harvard's 21-point comeback, 76-74 over Cornell.

Joel Davis' 3-pointer gave Cornell a 67-46 lead with 9:02 left. Harvard (11-15, 3-7 Ivy League) took the lead at 72-71 on Agunwa Okolie's putback with 1:59 left.

Zena Edosomwan's dunk ended the Crimson's 28-4 run at 74-71, and then Cornell's Matt Morgan tied it on a 3-pointer with 24 seconds left. After McCarthy gave Harvard the lead for good, Cornell (9-15, 2-8) failed to get a shot off in the final seconds.

Okolie added 16 points, Edosomwan had 13 points and nine rebounds and Corey Johnson scored 10. Okolie and Edosomwan had four offensive rebounds each and the Crimson had 18 total.

Morgan had 22 of his 27 points in the first half when the Big Red built a 46-31 lead.
