McCarter leads Campbell past SIU-Edwardsville 70-65

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) Reco McCarter had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead Campbell to a 70-65 victory over SIU-Edwardsville on Wednesday night.

Kris Davis made a pair of free throws to pull SIU-Edwardsville to a 55-all tie. Nehemiah Mabson answered with a trey to spark a 9-2 run and give the Camels a 64-57 lead with 2:49 to play. Maurice Wiltz's 3-pointer pulled the Cougars within 64-60 with 1:03 left, but the Camels shot 6 of 9 from the line to seal it.

Andrew Ryan hit a 3-pointer to give Campbell a 28-25 lead with 3:33 to play in the first half, and the Camels led the rest of the way. D.J. Mason scored 15 points and Ryan chipped in 10 for Campbell (4-6).

Davis scored 16 points, Wiltz and Rozell Nunn had 11, and Donivine Stewart added 10 points with six assists for SIU-Edwardsville (1-7).
