Manhattan dumps Hofstra 80-68 behind Peart

RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) Zavier Peart scored 16 points and Zane Waterman and Aaron Walker Jr. each added 15 points to lift Manhattan to an 80-68 win over Hofstra Friday night.

The Jaspers led 41-34 at halftime and a 10-5 run stretched the lead to 51-39 after Ak Ojo's dunk with 15:42 remaining.

Over the next nine minutes the Pride outscored Manhattan 21-15 and cut the deficit to 66-60 on a jumper by Justin Wright-Foreman with 6:49 to play but couldn't get closer.

Off the bench, Wright-Foreman led Hofstra with 17 points shooting 7 for 14 from the floor.

Manhattan had a 35-25 edge on the boards and made all 17 of its free throws. The Jaspers got their first win of the season after opening the season with two defeats.

The Jaspers pushed their all-time record against Hofstra (1-2) to 41-22.
