Loyola (Md.) defeats Norfolk State 65-49

Dylon Cormier scored 19 points and Tyler Hubbard hit a pair of key 3-pointers to lead Loyola (Md.) to a 65-49 victory over Norfolk State on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Tip Off.

Hubbard's basket from behind the arc gave the Greyhounds (3-1) a 33-24 lead during an 8-0 run in the final 3:11 of the first half.

After the Spartans (2-2) whittled a 37-24 halftime deficit to seven points, 44-37, with 13:16 remaining, another 3 by Hubbard gave Loyola a 10-point lead, and the Greyhounds remained ahead by double digits the rest of the way.

Erik Etherly finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for Loyola, and Hubbard and Robert Olson scored 11 each.

Pendarvis Williams scored 14 points to lead Norfolk State, which like Loyola made the NCAA tournament last season. Malcolm Hawkins had 12 points and freshman Rashid Gaston had 11 points and eight rebounds.
