Raheem Appleby scored 30 points to lead Louisiana Tech to a 71-63 victory against Chattanooga on Tuesday.
Kenneth Smith had 12 for the Bulldogs (4-1).
The Mocs (1-4) were led by Gee McGhee with 19 points and Rocco White with 10.
Chattanooga's Sam Watson made a layup to tie the game at 58 with 6:46 left, but Appleby hit a pair of free throws with 4:07 remaining for a 60-58 lead, and Louisiana Tech pulled away for the victory.

Appleby was 9 of 16 from the floor and 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs shot 23 for 30 from the field to the Mocs' 10 for 19, and Chattanooga committed 24 turnovers to 14 for Louisiana Tech.
The Bulldogs trailed 23-19 in the first half but went on an 11-2 run for a 30-25 advantage and led 42-34 at the break.
