Longwood holds off Central Pennsylvania 88-75

Michael Kessens scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Wednesday night to lead Longwood to an 88-75 victory over Central Pennsylvania.

The game between the Lancers (2-5) of the Big South and Division II Central Pennsylvania (8-2) was delayed 30 minutes after the Knights' bus was delayed in heavy traffic.

Kessens' 18 points led three teammates in double figures. His 17 rebounds was a career high. Tristan Carey and David Robinson scored 17 points apiece, Robinson shooting 3 for 6 from 3-point range. Nik Brown added 12 points.

Longwood took a 53-42 halftime lead, with Kessens and Robinson each scoring 14 points in the first half.

For Central Pennsylvania, Devon Dorsey posted a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double. Wes Kirkland was the only other Knight in double figures with 16 points.

Longwood shot 49.2 percent (32 of 65) from the field to the Knights' 28-of-70 shooting. Longwood had a 50-37 rebounding advantage.
