Jamal Olasewere had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead LIU Brooklyn to an 86-77 victory over St. Francis, N.Y. on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
C.J. Garner had 19 points, Julian Boyd had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Jason Brickman had 13 points and eight assists for the Blackbirds (18-7, 12-1 Northeast Conference), who have won 13 of their last 14 games. LIU has won 31 of its last 34 games against NEC opponents.
Akeem Johnson had a career-high 24 points and Ben Mockford added 20 for the Terriers (13-11, 10-3), who had won five straight and nine of 10.
St. Francis closed the first half on a 14-2 run and then scored the first basket of the second half to take a 40-39 lead. Garner's three-point play got the lead back for good for LIU, which shot 51.9 percent for the game (27 of 52).
