Liberty uses quick start to beat Randolph 81-58
Liberty made seven of its first 11 shots en route to an 81-58 win over Randolph on Friday night.
The Flames were led by the guard play of Jesse Sanders and younger brother John Caleb Sanders. Jesse, a 6-foot-4 senior, scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished nine assists, all while shooting 100 percent (4 of 4) from the field. John Caleb, a 6-foot sophomore, led all scorers with 17 points and made four 3-pointers.
Tavares Speaks provided Liberty with a spark off the bench, scoring 18 points in 19 minutes and recording two steals.
Liberty's defense suffocated Randolph all night, forcing 20 turnovers, 10 of which were steals, and outrebounded the Wildcats 42-26.
Zach Desgain and Mike Ehilegbu each scored 15 points for Randolph and Chris Battaglia added 10 off the bench, but the Wildcats struggled to get anything going inside, scoring only 16 points in the paint.
