James Madison 74, The Citadel 67

Denzel Bowles scored a game-high 20 points and Devon Moore added 19 to help James Madison defeat The Citadel 74-67 on Saturday night.

The Dukes (1-1) trailed 30-25 at halftime, but outscored The Citadel 49-37 in the second half.

Rayshawn Goins scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Dukes to notch his second consecutive double-double.

Austin Dahn led The Citadel with 18 points on 7-of-16 (43.8 percent) shooting, including 4 of 10 from 3-point range. Cameron Wells added 17 points and Zach Urbanus had 16.

The Bulldogs (0-3) were in foul trouble all night as both Wells and Matt Clark fouled out. The Citadel committed 27 personal fouls, sending the Dukes to the free-throw line 27 times compared to just three for the Bulldogs.

James Madison outscored the Bulldogs 36-14 in the paint and held The Citadel to 27-of-68 (39.7 percent) shooting.
