Ronnie Boggs led four players in double digits with 14 points to help Jacksonville State over Alcorn State 56-52 Saturday in nonconference play.

Tarvin Gaines scored 12 points, Brian Williams added 11 and Darion Rackley chipped in with 10 points for the Gamecocks (6-2).

Alcorn State (2-6) trailed 29-23 at halftime but rallied to tie the game at 43-all behind Anthony Evans' jumper with 5:15 left to play.

Boggs answered with a 3-pointer, then a jumper to put Jacksonville State ahead 48-43.

Evans connected from downtown with 52 seconds left to cut the lead to 53-52, but that was the closest the Braves would get as Jacksonville State made 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Evans led Alcorn State with 14 points.

Jacksonville State has won its third straight game this season and improved to 4-1 all-time against the Braves.
