Iowa State's Jameel McKay expected to return Saturday
Iowa State plans to have senior forward Jameel McKay back in the lineup on Saturday against Texas.
According to Travis Hines of the Ames Tribune, Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm has reinstated McKay after he missed the past two games due to a suspension.
The suspension occurred after a "practices-related incident", according to Hines.
“I think it’s helped Jameel,” Prohm said, “but I don’t want it to just help Jameel these last four weeks. I want it to help Jameel when he leaves here so he’s successful playing and can play for 10 or 12 years (professionally.
The Cyclones went 1-1 during that two-game stretch, surviving a scare from an Oklahoma State team playing without Jawun Evans before getting upset by Texas Tech in overtime on Thursday night.
McKay returns to the lineup averaging 12.4 points, a team-best 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
Iowa State, No. 14 in the latest Associated Press poll, hosts No. 24 Texas on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. EST.
