Scott Machado scored 28 points and Michael Glover added 21 points and 17 rebounds as Iona defeated Richmond 81-77 in double overtime on Thursday night.

The Gaels (1-3) snapped a three-game losing streak in winning their home opener, and their starters logged heavy minutes to do it. Four starters played at least 45 of the 50 minutes, and the fifth played 37. Nobody who came off the bench for Iona scored.

Kevin Anderson led Richmond (2-1) with 24 points. But the Spiders, who won their first two games by holding opponents under 50 points and to 35-percent shooting (63 of 178) could not overcome a 46-27 rebounding disparity.

Glover grabbed a team-high six offensive rebounds, which led to his 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Iona had 16 offensive rebounds as a team.
