Hunt scores 29, North Carolina A&T beats NC Central 93-87

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Sam Hunt made 8 of 10 field goal attempts, 11 of 12 free throws and finished with 29 points to help North Carolina A&T hold off North Carolina Central for a 93-87 win Thursday night.

Bruce Beckford scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Ede Egharevba had 16 points for North Carolina A&T. Beckford made 8 of 12 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range. Egharevba made a career-high four 3s.

Dajuan Graf's layup with 1:49 left put N.C. Central (12-18, 7-9 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) up 85-84 with 1:49 to play.

Hunt answered with a layup 17 seconds later and, after a steal by Denzel Keyes on the other end, Hunt hit two foul shots to give the Aggies (10-21, 7-9) a three-point lead with 1:02 remaining.

N.C. Central made 1 of 6 shots, and Hunt hit 4 of 4 foul shots, in the final 50 seconds.

Dante Holmes scored 21, and Rashaun Madison made 6 of 7 from 3-point range and finished with 20 points for the Eagles.
