Houston Baptist pulls out 72-20 Great West upset

Michael Moss made a three-point play with 2 seconds left to give Houston Baptist an upset over second-seeded New Jersey Tech 72-70 on Thursday in the first round of the Great West tournament.

Moss mad a layup while being fouled to break a 69-69 tie and went on to make one from the free-throw line. He finished with 26 points.

The Highlanders' Isaiah Wilkerson got the ball on the next possession and was fouled. He made the first of two free throws but missed the second.

Jheryl Wilson grabbed the offensive rebound and tried to tie with a jumper, which missed.

Andrew Gonzalez scored 14 points, Shawn Echols 11 and Terry Bembry 11 for the seventh-seeded Huskies (5-25).

Wilson led the Highlanders (15-15) with 18 points while Arjun Ohri added 16, Lamar Kearse 13 and Wilkerson 12.

Houston Baptist will play either North Dakota or Texas-Pan American in the semifinals Friday.
