Andrew Gonzalez matched his season high with 36 points and Houston Baptist held off Middle Tennessee 70-68 Tuesday night.

Gonzalez has scored at least 20 points in nine straight games and reached 30 for the fourth time this season. Michael Moss added 13 points for the Huskies (4-22), who ended a four-game losing streak and beat the Blue Raiders for the first time in four meetings.

James Washington led Middle Tennessee (14-15) with 21 points, and JT Sulton and Jason Jones each had 13.

Tied at 51 with 7:12 remaining, Houston Baptist took the lead for good with a 7-0 run that included five points from Gonzalez. The Blue Raiders pulled within 68-66 on two free throws by Washington with 18 second remaining but never got any closer.

Gonzalez was 11 of 21 from the field and 13 of 17 from the foul line.
