Hopkins leads Fresno State to 80-67 win over Menlo College

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) Jaron Hopkins scored 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting and Fresno State pulled away in the second half to beat NAIA-member Menlo College 80-67 on Wednesday night.

Leading 35-34 at halftime, Bryson Williams sparked a 10-3 run with a pair of free throws and the Bulldogs led 49-41 after a dunk by Terrell Carter II. Jahmel Taylor hit a 3-pointer and the Bulldogs led by 17 with 5:36 to play and held on.

Williams scored 12 points for the Bulldogs (4-2), who shot 49.2 percent from the floor (29 of 59) and outrebounded the Oaks 43-33. Deshon Taylor added a career-high 11 points, Paul Watson and Carter scored 10 apiece and Cullen Russo had five assists and two steals.

Jared Wall led Menlo College with 17 points. Ben Graham added 13 and John Paine had 11.

It was Fresno State's 25th straight win against a non-Division I opponent.
