Hofstra completes sweep of UNC-Wilmington, 61-52
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) Jordan Allen scored six points in the final three minutes, including 4 of 5 from the free throw line, as Hofstra held off North Carolina-Wilmington, 61-52 to sweep the season series Saturday night.
UNC-Wilmington, winless in 10 Colonial Athletic Association outings, built a 14-point lead in the first half, taking a 35-21 advantage at intermission.
But the Pride roared back with a strong second half, out-scoring the Seahawks 40-17 over the final 20 minutes to earn the victory.
Zeke Upshaw hit just 4 of 13 shots from the field, but was 2 of 4 from long range and 6 of 10 from the free throw line to score 16 points for Hofstra (8-17, 4-6 CAA). Allen added 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Dion Nesmith added 13 points.
Freddie Jackson scored 15 points off the bench to lead UNC-Wilmington (6-19, 0-10).
