Hofstra 74, Towson 62
Charles Jenkins scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half to lead Hofstra to a 74-62 victory over Towson on Saturday in the teams' Colonial Athletic Association opener.
Jenkins scored the first seven points for the Pride (4-3) after halftime, and the senior guard sank two free throws to give Hofstra its first lead of the second half, 48-46, with 11:44 to play.
With the game tied at 57, Hofstra ran off nine unanswered points, the first five by David Imes, to take a 66-57 lead at the 3:38 mark.
Isaiah Philmore scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half for the Tigers (2-4), who outshot Hofstra 52 percent (13 for 25) to 34.3 percent (12 for 35) in the opening half to take a 34-29 lead.
The Pride shot 51.7 percent (15 for 29) in the second half to Towson's 34.8 percent (8 for 23).
Mike Moore scored 15 points for Hofstra.
