Shay Shine scored 19 points and led five High Point players in double figures as the Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak and routed Division III Averett 89-53 Saturday night.
Devante Wallace added 18 points, Corey Law and Nick Barbour each had 14, and Jairus Sims scored 10 for the Panthers (3-6). Law also had 12 rebounds.
High Point shot 54.5 percent (36 of 66) from the field and outscored Averett 56-14 in the paint. The Panthers grabbed 45 rebounds, including 15 on the offensive end compared to 27 for Averett.
High Point broke open the game in the first half with a 17-2 run to claim a 32-11 lead with 6:10 to play until halftime. A 16-2 run in the second half extended the High Point lead to 77-46 with 6:43 remaining in the game.
Justin Pierce led Averett (1-6) with 14 points.
