Hart with 27 points as Marist beats Brown 87-79

UNCANSVILLE, Conn. (AP) Khalid Hart scored 27 points and Brian Parker added 21 as Marist posted its first season win with an 87-79 victory over Brown at the Naismith Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday night.

Hart - who has led the scoring for the Red Foxes (1-3) in their first four games this season - was 9-for-12 shooting from the field including 6 for 7 from distance. Parker had seven assists to go with his 21 points.

The Red Foxes led 40-37 at the half and extended their lead to 51-41 with 12:59 remaining following a Parker 3. Parker also gave Marist its biggest lead of the game, 70-54, on a layup with 5:24 remaining.

Steven Spieth led the Bears with 21 points and seven boards.

Hart came into the game with 1,359 career points in 81 career games. Next on Marist's all-time scoring list is Alan Tomidy (1,508 points).
