Hampton 60, Georgia St. 56
Darrion Pellum scored 21 points, including 13 during a key second-half run, as Hampton posted a 60-56 overtime victory over Georgia State on Tuesday night.
The Pirates (6-1) trailed 36-28 with 13:21 remaining in regulation but scored 16 of the next 20 points. Koron Reed's dunk gave them a 44-40 lead at the 6:38 mark.
After two more lead changes, a dunk by Eric Buckner with 17 seconds left pulled the Panthers (2-3) into a 49-49 tie. A missed jumper by Pellum at the buzzer sent the game into overtime.
Two free throws by Pellum and a jumper by Danny Agbelese gave Hampton a 56-52 lead with 3:01 remaining in overtime, and Brandon Tunnell made 4 of 6 free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
Buckner finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Georgia State, which had lost in overtime to Samford in its previous game.
