Groce: Illinois' Black will sit out 5 games, 2 exhibitions

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) Illinois coach John Groce says forward Leron Black has rejoined the team but will sit out the first six games next season after pleading guilty to misdemeanor aggravated assault.
Groce said Friday that those six games will include two exhibitions before the regular season begins.
The 20-year-old Black was sentenced on April 21 to a year of probation after pleading guilty and admitting he threatened a bar bouncer with a knife. The sophomore said he regrets his actions and the embarrassment he caused his family and his team.
Groce said Black ''used extremely poor judgment'' in the Feb. 18 incident.
Teammates Kendrick Nunn and Jaylon Tate remain suspended after pleading not guilty to domestic assault charges stemming from separate incidents in March.
