Greenwood leads McNeese St. to 80-78 win over LSU-Alexandria

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) Jarren Greenwood had 19 points, including five free throws in the closing seconds, as McNeese State held on for an 80-78 victory over NAIA LSU-Alexandria on Saturday.

The Cowboys were ahead 70-62 with 5:16 remaining when Brando Moss slammed home a dunk to start an 8-1 run and LSU-Alexandria closed to 71-70 with 2:16 left. McNeese State made nine free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.

Greenwood was 11 of 13 from the free throw line. Kalob Ledoux had 13 points and LaBarrius Hill and Adrian Brown added 10 apiece for McNeese State (2-3).

Alexandria was up 42-38 at the half and led 49-46 at the 16:35 mark of the second half. McNeese State's James Harvey nailed a trey and Greenwood had a 3-point play to give the Cowboys their first lead in the second period, 54-51, with 14:11 remaining.

Moss led Alexandria with 15 points.
