Georgia Southern surprises Chattanooga 77-61

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Tre Bussey scored 25 points and Jelani Hewitt 24 as Georgia Southern upset Chattanooga 77-61 on Thursday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Eagles (12-16, 5-8 Southern) also got 14 points from Angel Matias. Marvin Baynham grabbed 10 rebounds to go over 500 for his career. Georgia Southern, which shot 52.5 percent, had a 40-20 scoring advantage in the paint.

Georgia Southern trailed by 12 with 5:23 left in the first half but went on a 13-2 run to end the half and a 10-2 spurt to open the second for a 10-point lead. The Eagles matched their biggest comeback of the season.

The Mocs (16-12, 10-3) were within single digits for the last time with 13:23 left. The Eagles led by as many as 19.

Z. Mason scored 21 points and Greg Pryor 10 for the Mocs, still second in the conference but now tied with Wofford.
