Florida forward Cody Larson has settled a criminal trespass charge stemming from his arrest in April, but he still could face jail time.
According to a deferred prosecution agreement filed in St. Johns County on Tuesday, Larson must perform 200 hours of community service, take part in a substance abuse evaluation program, pay $240 in restitution to the victims, write a meaningful letter of apology to the victims, pay $200 in fees, and cannot consume alcohol or controlled substances for one year.
Larson also must continue counseling and all recommended treatment, plus serve one year of supervised probation.
Larson was on probation when he and teammate Erik Murphy were charged with trying to break into a car outside a St. Augustine bar.
The 6-foot-9 redshirt freshman from Sioux Falls, S.D., still has another legal hurdle to clear.
In May 2010, Larson received a 120-day suspended jail sentence and two years of probation for allegedly sharing prescription medication with a high school teammate. It's possible that Larson will have to serve jail time in South Dakota for violating terms of his probation.
Minnehaha State Attorney Aaron McGowan said once the court receives official documentation from Florida, it will decide whether to file a motion to revoke Larson's suspended sentence.
Florida coach Billy Donovan suspended Larson and Murphy after their arrest. He reinstated Murphy last week, but Larson remains suspended from all team activities.
