Florida Atlantic 82, Troy 77

Raymond Taylor scored 10 of his 24 points in overtime as Florida Atlantic came from behind to beat Troy 82-77 on Thursday night in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.

The Owls (7-5) trailed 39-35 at halftime and by as many as 12, 32-20, with 4:43 left in the opening half.

But a 52 percent shooting effort (13 of 25) in the second gave FAU a 45-39 lead with 15:56 to go.

The Trojans (1-8) scored the next 11 points to pull ahead 50-45 with 11:39 left. A 3-pointer from Troy guard Regis Huddleston with 29 seconds remaining tied the score at 68 and forced overtime.

Taylor hit two 3s and four free throws in the extra period as the Owls held on for the win.

Troy shot 27.3 percent in overtime (3 of 11) en route to its eighth consecutive loss after opening the season with a 100-59 win over Huntingdon College on Nov. 12.
