Filer scores 18 points in FAU's 82-77 win over Charlotte

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) Adonis Filer scored 18 points, including six free throws in the final minute, and Florida Atlantic defeated Charlotte 82-77 on Saturday.

Filer made 5 of 10 from the field, 7 of 8 free throws and led the Owls (6-16, 4-5 Conference USA) with seven rebounds. Marquan Botley scored 15 points, Nick Rutherford 12 and Ronald Delph 10 along with five blocks for FAU, which shot 50 percent.

Joseph Uchebo scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds for the 49ers (7-14, 4-5), whose three-game win streak ended. Curran Scott made 10 of 12 free throws and scored 16 points with Braxton Ogbueze adding 15 points, including four 3-pointers.

The Owls used a 13-3 run early in the second half to build a 57-40 lead. The 49ers were within four with 51 seconds left but Filer went on his free-throw binge for a 10-point lead with 15 seconds left.
