Yorel Hawkins scored 13 of his 15 points after halftime and Fairfield used a big second half to defeat Holy Cross 71-60 on Sunday.

Tied at 29 at halftime, the Stags (7-3) shot 53.8 percent after the break (14 of 26) and outscored Holy Cross 42-31 in the second half.

The Crusaders turned the ball over 10 times in the second half, leading to 13 points as they fell to 0-8 for the first time in school history.

Holy Cross led 34-29 47 seconds into the second half, and was outscored 10-2 over the next 2:50. Derek Needham, who finished with 11 points and six assists, capped the run on a 3-pointer to put the Stags up 39-36 with 16:23 remaining. Fairfield wouldn't trail the rest of the way.

Ryan Olander scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds for Fairfield.

The Crusaders were led by Andrew Beinert with 19 points and Andrew Keister with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
