Ned Cox scored 16 points and Colt Ryan had 15 as Evansville defeated Oakland City 80-53 on Saturday.
Kenny Harris added 13 points and Troy Taylor had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Purple Aces (2-1). Evansville made only 12 of 28 free throws but shot 52 percent from the field and took advantage of 28 turnovers by the Mighty Oaks.
Ethan Knepp had 15 points, Mitch Stahl 13 and Maurice Fuller 12 for Oakland City, a Division II school.
Evansville led 36-29 at the break, then scored the first 14 points of the second half to put the game away. Ryan started the run with a pair of baskets, then assisted on a dunk by Rokas Cesnulevisius before scoring again on a layup. Cox closed out the run with back-to-back scores to give the Aces a 50-29 lead with 16:35 left.
