Kenny Harris' double-double paced Evansville to a 62-55 victory over Alabama State on Tuesday night.

Harris had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Purple Aces (3-2), who shot 45.7 percent (21 of 46). Colt Ryan added 14 points and Ned Cox 10.

Ivory White scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to pace the defending Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament champion Hornets (0-5). Luther Page added 12 points, and Jeff Middlebrooks had nine assists.

The seven-point difference came at the free throw line. Evansville went 15 of 22 to 8 of 13 for Alabama State.

Alabama State had a 39-31 edge on the boards but shot just 35.1 percent (20 of 57) to 45.7 percent (21 of 46) for Evansville.

The Hornets, coming off a 10-day layoff, open the season with 10 of their first 11 games on the road.
