Eastern Michigan cruises to 97-60 win over NAIA Madonna

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) James Thompson IV had his fourth-straight double-double, Ray Lee scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Eastern Michigan cruised to a 97-60 win over NAIA Madonna on Wednesday.

Thompson made 11 of 15 from the field and finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. Willie Mangum IV scored 17 and Ty Toney had 10 points, a career-high tying eight assists and four steals.

Eastern Michigan (3-3) scored the first 11 points, used a 10-2 run to push its lead to 32-17 with 8:59 left in the half and led by as many as 22 before going into the break leading 51-31.

The Eagles scored 13 of the first 16 second-half points and cruised from there.

Nick Owens scored 15 and Andrew Myers had 11 points and eight assists - but committed nine turnovers - for Madonna.

EMU had a season-high 16 steals.
