Eastern Kentucky holds off Morehead State 69-57

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) Eric Stutz scored 25 points to lead Eastern Kentucky to a 69-57 win over Morehead State on Wednesday night and move past the Eagles into first place in the East Division of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Corey Walden made 11 of 12 free throws and finished with 15 points for the Colonels (15-9, 7-4). Stutz finished 10-of-15 shooting from the field.

Eastern Kentucky used a 12-2 run, capped by a Ja'Mill Powell 3-pointer, to push its lead to 61-51 with 2:35 remaining.

A layup by Angelo Warner cut Morehead State's deficit to eight 17 seconds later, but the Eagles would get no closer as Walden made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 1:56.

Eastern Kentucky made 21 of 41 (51.2 percent) field goals and 23 of 27 (85.2 percent) free throws.

Karam Mashour had 16 points, Warner scored 13 and Miguel Dicent had 12 for the Eagles (12-15, 7-5).
