Eastern Illinois crushes NAIA-member St. Ambrose 101-59
CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) Demetrius McReynolds scored 22 points with eight rebounds and Eastern Illinois crushed NAIA-member St. Ambrose 101-59 on Monday night.
McReynolds was 10 of 13 from the field as the Panthers (10-13) shot nearly 57 percent and hit 9 of 23 from beyond the arc. Anthony Johnson and A.J. Riley combined to go 10 of 13 and scored 14 points apiece. Eastern Illinois outrebounded its smaller opponent 46-36.
St. Ambrose was led by freshman center Eric Dust with 13 points, while Jacoby Posley added 10 points.
The Fighting Bees were competitive in the first 20 minutes as Eastern Illinois led by 13 at the break, 48-35. But the Panthers started the second half with a 15-3 run and cruised from there.
The lead eclipsed the 30-point mark on Luke Norman's 3-pointer with 9:14 to go.
