Jontae Sherrod scored 21 points and East Carolina defeated Campbell 76-63 on Monday night.

The Pirates (2-0) were 11 of 23 from 3-point range (47 percent), with Jones hitting four of them.

East Carolina led 29-25 at halftime, but used 58.7 percent shooting (14 of 25) and a 15-of-20 effort from the free-throw line (75 percent) in the second half to stretch its advantage to as many as 17.

Erin Straughn added 12 points and Corvonn Gaines chipped in 11 for the Pirates.

The Camels (0-2) finished with a 32-28 rebounding advantage and a 21-8 margin in second-chance points, but were unable to overcome the Pirates' long-range shots.

Eric Griffin led Campbell with 15 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals, while Preston Dodson and Andrew Ryan added 10 points apiece, all in the second half.

The Camels shot just 38.5 percent (10 of 26) in the first half.
