Jontae Sherrod scored 14 points and Brock Young had 11 as 11 players scored for East Carolina in a 71-48 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday night.
The Pirates (4-2), who outscored the Division II Bears (1-3) 36-18 in the first half, finished with 31 points off the bench and had 12 players get on the court.
Lenoir-Rhyne, overmatched with just one player at 6-foot-8 or taller compared to four by East Carolina, took an 8-7 lead early. The Pirates then went on a 19-5 run to lead 26-13 on Erin Straughn's layup with 4:08 left in the first half. The Bears wouldn't get any closer than 10 the rest of the way.
East Carolina won the battle of the boards 36-27 and outscored the Bears 28-12 in the paint.
Lenoir-Rhyne was without their leading scorer, D.J. Blackmon (27.5 points per game), who injured his knee over the weekend. R.J. McClure had eight points for the Bears.
