Darrell Lampley scored 16 points to lead balanced Eastern Michigan to a 66-64 victory over IUPUI on Sunday in the Spartan Classic.
Antonio Green added 14, Matt Balkema 13 and J.R. Sims 11 for the Eagles (3-1).
Alex Young had game highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Jaguars (1-3). Ian Chiles added 17 points and Lyonell Gaines 10.
Eastern Michigan shot 51.2 percent (21 of 41) to just 31.1 percent (19 of 61) for the Jaguars.
The score was tied 14 times in the second half, with neither team ever leading by more than four.
IUPUI's Stephen Thomas made two free throws to cut the gap to 62-61 with 42 seconds left, but Kamil Janton sealed it with a basket to put Eastern Michigan up 64-61 with 18 seconds to play. Lampley added two free throws, and Chiles drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.
