Duquesne beats Dayton 83-73

PITTSBURGH (AP) Micah Mason had 17 points and matched a career-high with nine assists to help Duquesne beat Dayton 83-73 on Saturday.

Dayton (20-6, 10-4 Atlantic 10) had its three-game winning streak snapped and falls a game back of conference leaders Rhode Island (19-6, 11-3) and No. 25 Virginia Commonwealth (21-6, 11-3).

Mason had four steals and eight rebounds. Derrick Colter scored 25 points, Dominique McKoy chipped in 11 with a career-best five assists, and Jeremiah Jones added 10 points for Duquesne (9-16, 4-10).

Duquesne was down one point at the break, yet pulled ahead 48-46 early in the second half. The Dukes used a 15-7 surge to stretch their lead to 63-53 with 8:37 left, and Dayton would pull no closer than five points the rest of the way.

Dyshawn Pierre scored 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead four players in double figures for Dayton.
