Duncan leads Vermont over Stony Brook 76-62

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Ernie Duncan made all four of his 3-pointers and tied his career high with 23 points to lead Vermont over America East champion Stony Brook 76-62 on Saturday night in a regular-season finale.

Trae Bell-Haynes added 16 points for the Catamounts (19-12, 11-5), who hit 10 of their 19 3-point attempts and led from early on in picking up their fifth win in a row.

Vermont scored 12 straight points, including six consecutive points from Bell-Haynes, to go up 18, 73-55, with two minutes remaining.

Stony Brook (23-6, 14-2), which won the regular-season title with a victory over Maine in its previous game, was led by Rayshaun McGrew with 17 points, 16 from Carson Puriefoy and 13 from Jameel Warney.

Wednesday, the No. 1 seeded Seawolves will host No. 8 Maryland-Baltimore County and No. 3 Vermont will host No. 6 Maine in first-round tournament games.
