PHILADELPHIA (AP) Drexel has hired Army's Zach Spiker as coach of its struggling basketball team.

Spiker was 102-112 in seven seasons at Army and joins a Drexel team that has not made the NCAA Tournament since 1996. The Dragons fired coach Bruiser Flint this month after 15 seasons.

Army was 19-14 this season and 9-9 in the Patriot League.

Drexel athletic director Eric Zillmer lauded Spiker on Friday for his ''unbelievable energy'' and calls him a ''true CEO and modern coach of college basketball.''
