DePaul's Melvin to miss rest of season

DePaul freshman Cleveland Melvin will miss the rest of the season because of a sprained left thumb, leaving the Blue Demons without their leading scorer.

The school made the announcement on Monday.

Melvin, averaging 14.3 points, was injured during a loss at St. John's last week and missed Saturday's loss against South Florida.

The Baltimore native has been one of the bright spots in another rough season for DePaul, which is 7-21 overall and 1-15 in conference play in its first year under coach Oliver Purnell.
