Delaware St. 86, Norfolk St. 74

Donald Johnson scored 24 points and Delaware State defeated Norfolk State 86-74 on Saturday. Delaware State trailed 24-23 with 4:40 left in the first half, and then went on a 14-5 run to close out the half with a 37-29 lead. The Hornets led 60-41 on Trevor Welcher's jumper with 10:46 left in the game. With the win, Delaware State (7-19, 5-6 Mid-Eastern Conference) prevented its first three-game home losing streak under coach Greg Jackson. Jackson became the Hornets coach in May 2001. Arturo Dubois added 17 points for Delaware State and Fred Bouie chipped in 13. Frisco Sandidge had 12 rebounds and six assists for the Hornets. Michael Deloach and Aleek Pauline scored 20 points apeice for Norfolk State (8-14, 6-5) and Kevin Worsley chipped in 10 points. The Hornets shot 60.4 percent from the field (32-for-53).
