Jawan Carter scored 24 points and Delaware held on for a 67-64 win over Lafayette on Saturday.
After Jared Mintz made two free throws for Lafayette (1-5) to tie it at 59 with 1:30 left, the Blue Hens (2-2) went 8-for-10 from the free-throw line to win it.
Carter was 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the final 1:30 and finished 12-for-12 in the game.
Delaware, which shot 79.9 percent (22 of 29) from the free-throw line, led 39-30 at halftime after shooting 47.8 percent form the field in the first half (11 of 23).
D.J. Boney's 3 put the Blue Hens up 55-44 with 7:54 left to play, but the Leopards responded with a 15-4 run. Mintz, who had seven points during the burst which lasted 1:30, capped it with two free throws to tie it at 59.
Mintz finished with 22 points and six assists, Jim Mower added 11 points and Tony Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds for Lafayette.
