Dayton 67, Mount St. Mary's, Md. 52

Devin Searcy scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Dayton defeated Mount St. Mary's (Md.) 67-52 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Searcy wasn't the only Dayton player to record a double-double. Chris Wright added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mount St. Mary's led only once, on Julian Norfleet's 3-pointer with 6:13 left in the first half. The Flyers responded with an 8-0 run, starting with Searcy's jumper with 5:48 left, and took the lead for good.

Dayton, which also got 14 points from Paul Williams, built the lead to 19 points late in the second half. The Mountaineers, who were led by Norfleet's 15 points, could come no closer than the final 15-point margin.

Shawn Atupem contributed 14 points and nine rebounds for the Mountaineers.
